Legion:
From the Latin word Legio, which is derived from Lego (which means to assemble, like the toy Legos)
In ancient Rome, the citizens of Rome who owned land were the only ones allowed to fight within the Legions, they called themselves the “Legio” and to them that meant specifically they were a free people who were assembled together to fight for a mutual cause. Because they owned land, and were a free people they had something worth fighting for and hence were entrusted with the interest of the Roman Republic.
